Public housing added to school zone map

Federal school zones include a 1,000-foot buffer around a "housing facility owned by a public housing authority." I've updated the zoning map with public housing.

Of the six features found in the federal school zone definition, this classification is by far the easiest to map with certainty. To qualify under the public housing category, a tax parcel must be:

  1. Owned by a public housing authority
  2. With residential housing on it

The public housing layer includes over 1,800 tax parcels throughout King County. The effect of this is magnified in Seattle, where the buffer around these parcels comprises 24.8 square miles — 27.3% of the effective land area, touching 38.7% of all tax parcels.
